Through a growing network of foster families, volunteers, veterinary partners, transportation assistance, and innovative programs, Operation WarDDawgs™ provides compassionate temporary care while keeping military families connected to the companions waiting faithfully for them.
We exist to provide peace of mind, preserve family bonds, and honor those who serve our nation.
Our Story
Some organizations begin with a business plan.
Operation WarDDawgs™ began with a heart for animals that had already been put into action.
While working full-time in property management, teaching an industry certification course, and volunteering with local animal rescue organizations, our founder Misty Ward, devoted nearly 40 hours of volunteer service in just a few short weeks because helping animals wasn't simply and interest - it was already part of her life.
Then one story changed everything.
She learned of a military service member preparing for deployment who was desperately searching for someone to care for his dog. Although he ultimately found a solution, one question lingered:
What happens to the service member who doesn't?
As the owner of three beloved dogs, Misty couldn't imagine leaving home to serve her country while wondering whether they would be safe, loved, and waiting when she returned.
That question became the foundation of Operation WarDDawgs™.
Today, our mission is simple:
To preserve the bond between military families and the dogs they love by providing trusted, compassionate care during deployment and military-related hardships.
Because no one who answers the call to serve should ever have to wonder about the family member waiting at home with four paws.
